Refurbishment of Flat 81

Major refurbishment of Flat 81
A MAJOR refurbishment programme of the company-owned flat Number 81 started on 10 April and was expected to take up to 16 weeks to complete.
The planned works entail a complete gutting of the flat, with the removal and replacement of timber floors, replastering of the entire property, electrical rewiring, replumbing of all services, and the installation of new central heating, new kitchen and bathroom.
Architects Hunter Price Ltd have been involved from an early stage in the tendering and subsequent contract administration of the refurbishment. The building work will be undertaken by DJA Ltd.
The planned works will have a minor impact on the day-to-day running of the estate, with a builder’s skip being located near the main entrance.
Scaffolding and protective hoarding will be erected on the outside of the property allowing builder’s debris to be removed safely, and eliminating the need to carry it through communal parts of the estate.
As work progresses on Flat 81, new windows will also be installed as an initial part of the window replacement programme.
This will give the Conservation Officer, English Heritage and the 20th Century Society the opportunity to make a final assessment prior to full approval.
